Arthrosamid at EZZ Bonn

Arthrosamid in Bonn: a single injection of a joint hydrogel for knee osteoarthritis — consultation and treatment at EZZ Bonn.

Arthrosamid

Arthrosamid is a polyacrylamide-based hydrogel injected into the knee joint in a single session. Unlike hyaluronic acid, which is given as a series and broken down by the body within months, Arthrosamid attaches to the inner lining of the joint and remains there. The aim of the treatment is to relieve pain and improve joint mobility. At EZZ Bonn we use Arthrosamid for knee osteoarthritis — particularly where physiotherapy, painkillers or hyaluronic acid have not helped sufficiently and surgery is to be avoided or postponed. The injection is performed on an outpatient basis under ultrasound guidance. Whether the procedure is suitable for your condition is determined in a personal examination.

One injection instead of a treatment series

For many patients the practical difference is decisive: instead of several appointments a week apart, only one appointment is needed. That can matter where work commitments or a long journey leave little room for repeated treatments. Arthrosamid can also be placed within an existing treatment plan — for example following physiotherapy or alongside other procedures offered at EZZ Bonn.

Treatment success cannot be guaranteed. Whether and to what extent symptoms improve cannot be predicted in an individual case. Any decision on treatment is made only after a personal medical examination and individual assessment of findings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Arthrosamid is a water-based polyacrylamide gel, CE-marked as a medical device. It is injected directly into the knee joint, where it attaches to the inner lining. It is neither a medicine nor cortisone.

Hyaluronic acid is usually given as a series of three to five injections and is broken down by the body within months. Arthrosamid is injected once and is not broken down. Which option makes more sense depends on the findings, the stage of osteoarthritis and the treatment history.

Arthrosamid is used for knee osteoarthritis. We assess suitability case by case, including a physical examination and a review of existing imaging.

The injection is performed on an outpatient basis in the practice under ultrasound guidance. Including preparation and observation, the appointment usually takes under an hour. The joint should be rested for a few days afterwards.

An Arthrosamid treatment at EZZ Bonn costs approximately 2,000 to 3,000 euros. The exact amount depends on the scope of examination and preparation. You receive transparent cost information before any chargeable service begins.

EZZ Bonn is a private practice. German statutory health insurers do not cover the cost; patients with statutory insurance can use the service as self-payers. For private insurers and civil-service allowance schemes, reimbursement depends on the individual policy — coverage cannot be guaranteed.
